Howdy there. I realize how long it has been since I last managed to pound out a post, my apologies. Good news- we have spent over a year in our new rabbitry & have come through all sorts of economy-related issues (where's that change I was promised? I believe it has been stalled...)
Anyhow, aside from all that, our rabbits have mostly fared well. We lost Tank's Meilyr at 6 years & several months, which was disheartening. He continues to be the backbone of our ND line and will never be forgotten. There are plenty o' pedigrees featuring Meilyr's name. He was quite the lady's man.
I have a theory that there is a mass-intelligence at work within our rabbit herd & frankly, any rabbit herd. We say that our herd "knows" what it needs- when it wants more shadeds, we receive more. When it needs bucks, we produce them. Recently we've had a bushel of very typey bucks. We had a surprise REW, Tank's Milkshake, who has surpassed all expectations. I have a photo of he and I as my Facebook avatar.
We also have Tank's Dunkirk, Chin buck extraordinaire, Tank's Hjolmir, heir to the Otter tradition in our rabbitry & Tank's Jupiter, fair-to-middlin' Himi buck. On last Saturday, we traveled to Fort Worth & met some great people. Chris Thomas met us there & we'll be talking more about bringing in some new does. We have a GREAT little black buck, Thom's Mister A, that will improve our program.
Things are looking up, in my estimation. We hurdled some major obstacles, even as our trail leg hit one or two, but we managed to qualify. Now onward to the goal, a win in twenty-ten! &c.
